In the manner of Georges Perec in "Je me souviens," the Montchoisi swimming pool and ice rink awakens in me distinc memories of smells, heat emanating from concrete, frozen feet in skates too small, screams erupting from the crowd every time the speaker announced: “Attention, we will now make waves;” in short, it conjures up a whole imaginary world from the past. A favourite meeting place and leisure center for Lausanne’s inhabitants, Montchoisi undergoes a metamorphosis every season as the winter ice rink is transformed into a swimming pool during the summer months.
